This year I am planning on publishing blog posts every other Wednesday. That means most months throughout 2023 will only have 2 new posts. I am excited to slow down on publishing and move my focus towards promoting.
Writing is honestly my favorite part of my business. I just want to give advice to new moms. I want to help people with information. I don’t enjoy pushing my content. However, if I don’t promote it people are missing out on what I consider value information.
Users & Pageviews
My users and pageviews are up this month. This increase in traffic is all due to Pinterest. My account is rebounding which in encouraging for traffic and pageviews.
Pinterest Impressions
Pinterest is back baby! Let’s go!
Around August or September last year something happened to my Pinterest account. I don’t know if something mistakenly got flagged as spam or something but my impressions basically flat lined at zero. I contacted support and got nowhere. All of my blog traffic was gone. It was terrible. This was after over 18 months of consistently pinning.
I continued to pin for a while, but that started to seem like a waste of time so I took a break. After a while my account started to slowly come back. I then started pinning again. I believe that was in November or early December.
I am currently publishing one new pin every other day. Some of these pins are from old articles and old URLs while others will be new posts with fresh URLs.
That is where I am at and I am seeing growth so I am happy!
I will say in the future I need to diversify where my traffic comes from. Relying on Pinterest screwed me over.
Email Subscribers
No new email subscribers. I did send a newsletter to my list of 5 and 2 of them opened the email. No one unsubscribed.
The email was promoting my recent articles. I put 3 articles of varying categories and also promoted my next article about potty training.
This year I need to get more people on my list and then actually email my list.
When I first started with email I was worried about typos and grammar mistakes. It would hold me back from sending messages. I have gained a bit of confidence and am more willing to simply send out article links.
When I consume emails from creators it is annoying when they always sell my stuff. However, links that could lead to interesting articles tends to intrigue me.
Income
I did not make anything for January 2023. My goal in January is promotion of my blog. That is my 12 week plan. When I start my next 12 week plan it will be more focused on monetization.
I need traffic first. If I can up my traffic maybe I will see more affiliate sales.
Basically income is not my focus. Rather promotion is right now.
I have barely made any money so far, so what’s a few more months of waiting.
Expenses
My hosting renewal all happened in December so January has no expenses.
Goals
I am starting the 12 week year for February, March and April. The focus is on promotion primarily through social media.
I am not comfortable with social media so this is going to be a struggle. I will continue with Pinterest as always, but am adding Instagram and Facebook and possibly Twitter.
My goal is to up my traffic via socials.
Strategy/Changes
Promotion. Moving forward I am going to stop publishing and actually promote. When I say top publishing you will not notice it. I have posts scheduled for the next three months. They will go out every other Wednesday. However, because those posts are done and scheduled my actual time will be spend learning and posting on social media.

As with all New Year’s I am feeling refreshed and ready to go. I spend a lot of time in January preparing to make this year better than the last two.
I digitize how I do processes. I moved information into Google sheets and docs to protect them and make the accessible anywhere for me.
I worked on content preparation in advance.
I set up a plan for the next 12 weeks for kick start my social media journey.
I am feeling proud of myself and ready to go.
I want to believe this is possible. My time as a nanny is going to run dry.
I believe in myself and in this blog.
I am ready to get it going.
I hope I can see some real progress. I know it would help with motivation for sure.
Conclusion
I am excited to implement some new strategies while maintaining my old ones as well. Learning new skills is always a bit scary, but without change I will not see any progress.
I need to grow as a person in order to grow my blog.
