Published Posts, Users, & Pageviews

In May for Mom Wife and Everyday Life, 2 posts went live. Users were up by about 100 this month.

For pageviews, I made a huge effort on Reddit. On May 23 I casually got on to Reddit and started linking relevant articles to various posts. I saw that there was a significant jump in pageviews. So then I got on again from May 28th to the end of the month. I was seeing if I could get 1000 pageviews by my own efforts. I didn’t quite get there with the time I had, but it did show me a decent return on my effort.

I really want to get back to 1000 pageviews a month. I would like to consistently be at that level.

Reddit may be more worth my time than some of the social media I am doing.

I am going to put time into linking articles on Reddit next month. I want to experiment with it more.

I know it is not the answer to traffic. I need traffic organically through search. I can’t put daily time into getting traffic long-term, however, this is getting me out in front of an audience. These readers could become followers on socials or join my email list.

Pinterest Impressions

Once again I am going to have some Pinterest difficulties. For the record, I publish one new pin a day. Sometimes it is a new URL, but usually, it is an old URL. Fresh pin though.

Pinterest started the month ok. Nothing exciting. Impressions we not growing from last month. My account is consistently stagnant. I just can’t find any growth on Pinterest.

On Wednesday, May 24th Pinterest impressions tanked for me. I believe there was another Pinterest update or algorithm change. That or my account was flagged for spam.

If this flat line continues June will see very little traffic.

Once again this is why I am pushing my content on social media as well as Reddit. I am working on YouTube as well. I need to get away from Pinterest. I know so many bloggers love Pinterest, but it just isn’t working long-term for me.

In the beginning, Pinterest was free, easy traffic. Now it is this unpredictable thing. It gives me traffic, and then randomly takes it away.

Email Subscribers

No new email subscribers in May.

I sent out a broadcast to all followers at the beginning of May. I have a broadcast with article links scheduled to go out every month for the rest of the year.

May’s email got a 50% open rate (counting my open). I have myself in the email list, so I receive them too. It reminds me that an email went out and gives me a chance to see what the email truly looks like from the receiving point of view.

It says zero clicks. Which is quite unfortunate. I would like to know if email subscribers are clicking on the article links I provide. I see this as a pageview and helpful opportunity.

Ideally, it gets old readers to come back and read an article. These are also opportunities to directly feed articles to readers. They don’t have to find me and my content. They are getting it straight to their inbox.

Income

In May I got $0.53 from Amazon affiliate sales.

For May I got 139 clicks on Amazon links, resulting in two ordered items that totaled $17.74, which resulted in me earning $0.53.

Basically, what I am saying is I need more traffic. It took a lot of clicks to get less than a dollar.

I believe that was my only income for May.

No expenses for May.

Goals

A goal I am consistently pursuing is 1000 pageivews per month. As far as content for the website and all my social media I am trying to maintain my schedule. That schedule is going to change over the months, but I want to achieve what I set out to do. Consistency and accountability. I am not afraid of hard work.

The other major goal is an upcoming 12-week plan. As I am writing this my next 12-week plan starts in a few days. The focus is to get my monetization organized.

-find all monetization sources as well as where those payments go.

-improve my tracking system

-add links if needed or more links near the top of my top 10 articles

-create a media kit for sponsorships

-get ads on my blog

-clean up YouTube product links

-reach out to 3 companies

-possibly open a specific business bank account

I have 12 weeks to work through this list while maintaining my normal workload.

Strategy/Changes

Other than my 12-week plan my only other major move in the near future is to publish long-form content on YouTube.

I started posting YouTube shorts on April 1st. I have been posting every other day during April, and May, and will continue for June.

My goal is to start recording and editing long-form content in June and publish it in July.

If I can manage it I will publish 2 long videos per week. My videos will simply be talking head educational videos, not complex vlogs, so ideally, editing is minimal.

Once I am posting long-form YouTube content I plan to slow down on shorts a little bit. I am thinking I will do 2 or 3 shorts per week. This isn’t a huge drop, but ideally, I can take some of my shorts time and dedicate it to longs.

Shorts are not going to make me money. I started with shorts to get my feet wet, get a few subscribers, and have content that would work as IG and FB reels.

Shorts in general are not making me direct money. They get my content in front of people which is great and can build an audience. I want people to learn of course. However long-form YouTube can be content in front of people and eventually get directly monetized.

Feelings

I am overall feeling somewhat stagnant in my blogging journey. Once again Pinterest is screwed up, so that is a low. I did make some Amazon money and got a lot of clicks so that is a positive.

I am feeling nervous about posting videos on socials. I do ok when I make them and watch them alone, however, if I hear my husband watch one in the other room I can’t handle it. It is still so awkward.

I have always wanted to successfully blog without the need for video. I really didn’t want to show my face publicly.

I hope my YouTube long-form content can be successful. I want to get my information out to moms that will find it helpful. That is honestly what I want to do. I want them to know they don’t need to buy every baby product on the market, and what to expect at their baby’s first appointment. I want to help moms and parents that feel lost.

I am proud of the work I am doing.

I am proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone with videos.

I am hopeful to see progress in my traffic and income.

Blogging with Amanda

My second blog is this one where I talk about my blogging journey. This is basically documenting my blogging journey and process. I am not promoting on Pinterest or any social media. I previously was on Pinterest so there are of course old pins still floating out there.

This blogs gets very little traffic and I am not going to put a bunch of time into creating a single May income report, so I’ll just put a few screen shots and numbers here. Nothing much to talk about.
