If you are curious about the number of pageviews you could get in your first year blogging take a look at my real-life experience. I am not here to say these pageviews are good or bad. I, of course, wish they were higher!

I am not a professional or amazing blogger. This is simply my first year blogging and my actual numbers. I want to show them to you and you can make of them what you want.

These are the monthly pageviews of a new blog started by a first-time blogger.

This blog is promoted on Pinterest only. I do not have any other social media for it during this first year. I have told very few people about it via word of mouth and of course, people can find my articles through search engines such as Google.

Technically this blog was launched on January 10th, 2021. I like to claim all of January as month one. This is simply to keep things tidy and organized during this first year of blogging.

The Numbers

Let’s jump right into the numbers. For the first full year of blogging Mom Wife and Everyday Life got 7665 pageviews.

I don’t think this is particularly good, but I am just keeping it real and sharing.

Let’s look at the breakdown by month.

I know for sure January’s pageviews are skewed by my personal pageviews. I did not know how to remove myself from my analytics at that point. I checked my site frequently while building and tweaking it to see what it looked like.

I believe I removed myself in January or February, but the fact that my homepage was my top page for the first 4 months is a bit strange. Maybe a lot of those were me on my phone or something and not removed from Google Analytics.

I think April or May is the best time to really start trusting my numbers.

For the full year, you can see my top 5 pages. For the first year, I published 78 total posts. The last post was published on 12/29/21 so it didn’t exactly have a chance to get pageviews, but my point is quite a few articles were out there.

You can see how many pageviews each of these articles received as well as the percentage beside them. That percentage is the percentage of the total pageviews.

If you divide 7665 by those 78 posts you would get about 98 pageviews per article. Each article should get about 1.27% of my views. To have my top article getting 13% is great of course because it is performing well, however that means some of my posts are not performing well, or possibly have not yet had time to perform well.

I want to touch on my top-performing article. It is all about the Daily Schedule for a Ten Month Old. I think this is my best-performing post because it is very searchable. People want to look up schedules for specific ages.

Maybe my pin description, image, or title was amazing, but I think overall it was the content. I had a few different versions of the pin associated with this article perform well.

The success of this article on Pinterest has taught me to remember to publish information people are looking for in their searches.

How Do I Get Pageviews?

As I mentioned before my traffic comes primarily from Pinterest. I can get it through word of mouth and direct searches. I can also get it from the web via search engines. This isn’t particularly likely though that my content is ranking very high.

I will be honest with you, I don’t love Pinterest. The algorithm is constantly changing. You find a lot of outdated information about pinning strategies online. And the worst part is that Pinterest is a lot of work.

Now that pins need to be fresh time is constantly spent designing pins and writing new descriptions. This is extremely time-consuming for me.

I feel that I must continue with Pinterest though because I want the traffic I get from Pinterest. you can see below the large amount of traffic I get from Social. This is my Pinterest Traffic.

How to Get More Traffic

Let’s talk a bit about what I think I could have done better to get more pageviews and traffic during my first year blogging.

I should have promoted my blog posts on other social media platforms. I would like to get started with Facebook in the near future. There are systems out there that can help you put this on autopilot.

I also think it is important to focus more on SEO in the beginning. SEO is the long-term game whereas Pinterest is the short game. I would recommend the first course you purchase is one on SEO rather than Pinterest. It is worth the effort upfront to reap the rewards later.

I should have put more focus on keywords and phrases that are frequently searched for. You want to help people with your content, but you need them to find your content. This is essentially SEO.

Conclusion

Once again I am happy to share part of my blogging journey with you. You can now see just how many pageviews a new blog got in the first year.

Whether you view these numbers as good or bad is up to you. They could make you feel behind or quite successful. Good luck in your blogging journey.

I hope you see more success than me!
