Published Posts
This month with the way it fell I published 5 new posts. My publishing day is Wednesday at 8 am. A lot of my content this month was focused on my second pregnancy. It was nice to get away from the toddler content a bit.
I don’t think I actually wrote any of this content in March. It was all published in advance in February.
Instead of writing content, I spent time on the creation of my first digital product. I spent about 11 hours working on it. I hope to get it launched by the end of May or early June.
I am trying to build the product itself, but also work on gaining email subscribers in the meantime.
I placed email opt-in forms in relevant articles. These forms however do not offer a freebie. Instead, they are just a “subscribe if you are interested in this upcoming product” type form.
I realize this is probably not the most effective way to gain subscribers. My thought is that later though I can easily change the form to an offer to purchase the product. It is already in the relevant articles.
I am continuing to try to gain email subscribers through email opt-in freebies in other articles.
My time went to figuring out more about email marketing and the creation of my product rather than the creation of more article content.
Users & Pageviews
This is my first month having over 1000 users! This is a new milestone for this blog!
My pageviews were just shy of 1500 coming in at 1497! So close! This is my highest number of pageviews in a single month so far.
I love seeing this growth. Overall my growth has been slow, but growth is growth!
As far as traffic, I did not have any viral pins to get a large boost.
As far as Google Search Console, nothing overly exciting there. I am still learning the meanings behind these numbers and the impact they have. I have not dedicated enough time to learning SEO and Google Search Console. The one number that stood out was my Average Position. It is down nearly 10 points., going from about 50.3 down to 41.4. I believe lower is better so that’s a move in the right direction.
Pinterest Impressions
Ok, let’s talk about Pinterest.
First off I did not have any crazy viral jumps this month. My impressions overall were quite steady. Slow and steady growth is my current trend.
I am still publishing 4 copies of a single pin at a time. They go out every other day to 4 different boards.
I am unsure if I will make the switch to only publishing one pin to a single board.
During the second half of the month, I published pins with fresh URLs. These were new articles I had not yet created pins for.
I am curious to see if these fresh URLs will help my account.
During the middle of the month, Pinterest had a bit of a glitch. My impressions were down to like 10 a day. It was crazy to see. I would check my analytics on my phone and freak out at first.
I did check on Google Analytics though and everything seemed ok there. I am not sure that the glitch affected my numbers. I do not believe it actually did.
Email Subscribers
This one subscriber joined in February. In March I sent myself a few test emails then bit the bullet and emailed my first subscriber!
Obviously, I should have done it sooner, but it was a big step!
I sent them a simple hello message and recommended 3 articles to them based on the PDF they subscribed to. The PDF that got them on my email list was about tracking a new baby’s feedings and bowel movements. This makes me think they either have or care for a newborn.
The three articles I linked in the email were relevant to caring for a newborn.
My goal here was to give the reader more value and help. This was also a way to get more views and possibly an affiliate commission.
It was very exciting to email my first subscriber. I was able to see that they clicked to open the email and they did not get annoyed and unsubscribe! That was my biggest fear! How upsetting would it be to lose my first subscribers before gaining anymore?
I am upset that I did not gain any more subscribers. My original thought was I need to improve my freebies, but then I realized people aren’t even seeing the freebies. I now realize I need to improve the opt-in forms that are advertising the freebie. Maybe the title of the freebie isn’t interesting enough or my wording is simply not selling it to them…and it is free!
This is something I need to work on next month.
Gaining subscribers is important before launching my digital product.
Income
My Amazon affiliate links received quite a few clicks this month. 36 is high for me. Unfortunately none of those resulted in a sale. That’s ok though! All I can do is recommend what I believe in and continue to gain traffic. More traffic equals more conversions.
You can check out more about my experience with Amazon affiliate marketing in, How Much Money Can a New Blog Make with Amazon Affiliate Marketing?
As far as Ezoic Ads I earned $4.81. This is my highest earning month with them so far.
Expenses
For March I had no expenses. I am a very cheap blogger. Probably honestly too cheap. If I were going to put my money anywhere at this point it would be a course for a very specific area such as SEO.
Goals
March Goals
My March goals were to finish up any Q1 tasks that I could control such as publishing content on time. I believe I succeeded in all the Q1 tasks I could. I did not meet all my Q1 goals associated with income and email subscribers. I wanted to have 5 email subscribers and I only got 1. I also wanted to earn $50 with ads and affiliates and for Q1 I earned $13.31.
I was also supposed to figure out some technical stuff related to Ezoic ads, which simply did not happen.
April Goals
I want to get ahead on content again. My goal is to publish all content for April, May, and even part of June if I can.
I want to get my product to the point I can send it to some friends for feedback before launching.
I need to work on my subscribe forms and better sell my freebie offers to gain subscribers.
I would like to work on going back to better optimize old posts with SEO, but this is my last priority.
Strategy/Changes
I am debating changing up my Pinterest strategy. It probably won’t happen in April, but probably in the next few months. I didn’t make any huge changes in March, other than getting some fresh articles and URLs out there.
As I said previously, I need to create more enticing email opt-in forms to gain subscribers.
April is going to be a big content publishing month, whereas March was not.

Feelings
I am feeling good about March overall. I am happy with my growth even if it is only slow and steady. I am thankful to have that email subscriber even though I want to work to gain more.
I am continuing to enjoy my blogging journey. I am simply trying to get better each and every day.
Conclusion
March was my 15th month blogging. I am no longer a rookie, but still have tons to learn. I hope I am an inspiration to other new bloggers to keep going. You will see progress you just have to stick with it. Do your best to lay that strong foundation from the beginning and later reap the rewards.
