Income

So I did a no-no and asked my sister to test out my Amazon Affiliate link. I figured this was frowned upon but didn’t know it is considered a violation. Whoops! Won’t do that again! But the link did in fact work!

I also accomplished the task of getting my account set up so now I have potential to make money!

Amazon

Update: After months of blogging check out my thoughts on if you can really make money with affiliate marketing on Amazon. Link the link below.

Pageviews

I would like to say my stats could be off. I tried to delete myself from the data on Google Analytics, but am not sure if I did so correctly. I am still trying to figure this out.

Goals

My focus is on task-based goals. I cannot directly control things like page views, but I can control how many posts I publish. I accomplished my two goals for the month.

Month 2 Goals:

Set up with Amazon Affiliates                    Success

Publish 8 Blog posts                                        Success

These are the resources I am using currently.

Pinterest

My Pinterest is going down ever since the beginning. I started out creating my boards and pinning a lot. At the time it was none of my content. Then I started pinning my content. I worked up to pinning about 9 of my own pins a day and 5-10 pins belonging to others. My account has continued to decline in numbers.

Fresh pins are a huge thing. I am trying to pin fewer duplicates and change up the titles and descriptions of the pins. I have decreased the amount of the same pin going out from 5-7 typically to more like 3-5. This is part of my manual batch pinning.

Hopefully, I will start to see some growth. I do not want to expect myself to pin all day long. Lately, I am hearing to pin less so I want to give this a try. I have lowered the amount of pinning of others’ content too.

I am not getting Tailwind at this point. I am interested in the communities but not sure if I would use it to pin. I realize I could schedule further out in the future than what I can do on Pinterest. I also realize it could better optimize the time of day the pin is published. At this point, I am going to continue to save money and give my blog time to grow. I want to see if my weak strategy can have some natural growth.

I think Pinterest is tricky. I am also afraid to purchase a course or ebook because I feel like Pinterest is always changing. This also makes me never want to create a course involving Pinterest or pinning strategies. If I ever discuss Pinterest it will be free information.

Update: If you want to hear more of my thoughts after a few months of blogging check out my article below.

Would I Recommend Tailwind for New Bloggers?

It looks like this month I got 1 pin saved.

Am I reading that right? Because that is terrible. Wait wait wait…it isn’t attached to an article. They saved my board cover! Oh my goodness. What a fail. No one saved a single post I have written.

Here is a look at my impressions and which pins received the most during the month.

How I am Feeling

I do not feel that I set enough goals for myself.

My only two were to set up affiliates and to publish 8 posts. I accomplished them both which is great of course. But I think I need to push myself a little more.

As far as scheduling posts. Right now it is easy. I wrote about 30 posts before launching and have spaced them out to publish. Not all of these posts were perfect. They still needed editing and to be formatted for WordPress. So some work was necessary. Pretty soon I am going to have to pick up my writing schedule or further space out my publishing schedule. I don’t know if I can keep up my pace. I want to maintain consistency and not fall off the wagon.

Pin Creation

I feel like I have a good system for pin creation overall. However, with Pinterest constantly wanting new pins you go through your new creations quickly. Or at least I am. I am creating templates and am using them for as many posts as possible. I currently have 50 templates. Each template could work for anywhere between 1-25 posts.

Some templates are very broad and others are narrow. A template for example is a baby sitting in a high chair. I could change the words on the template for an article about making your own baby food and an article about what my 8 month old eats in a day. The pin template is created and then used for multiple posts.

I have published 23 posts.

I have published about 56 pins that then go to multiple boards when pinned.

I have 9 pins per day publishing.

I have created 278 pins. I am working to build up a stash so I am never behind.

Tasks

I feel like I am in a state of creation. I am on a hamster wheel with busy work. But it truly is productive. I write posts and everything that entails. From outlines to edits to title creation and actual publishing. I spend time creating pins, creating my pin cheat sheets, and publishing pins.

I also spend a lot of time tracking what I am doing. I think this is where I waste time. For example, I have a whole excel sheet with my pins that have been created. Every time I make I pin I must add it to the sheet. Every time I publish a pin I change the color to signify it has been used. I then have another sheet for tracking when pins are scheduled to publish and which template I used.

All of this is important to me. I suppose I could just create pins, publish them, and then delete them. But I prefer to keep them and take the time to organize them.

I write.

I create pins.

I publish pins.

I repeat.

And this keeps me busy so far.

I need to find more time for other tasks.

But I am somewhat unsure of what other tasks I should be striving to achieve.

One task I know I need to work on is becoming better acquainted with Convertkit and all that it entails.

How I Stay Ahead on Content

I have scheduled 4 posts ahead right now, which is great!

posts published

I am continually publishing posts into the future. Some people would argue that would want to publish immediately, but I like my schedule and consistency. I am able to keep to this schedule but publishing ahead.

Just to be clear though I may not be able to keep going at this rate and that is ok.
