Introduction

I started my first blog www.momwifeandeverydaylife.com in January of 2021. My first year was focused on content creation and promotion via Pinterest. These two tasks were my primary focus.

I did not have much of a plan. Learning tasks as I could take them on was my strategy.

With time I learned how to publish articles and interlink them. I learned how to publish and create pins on Pinterest. For monetization, I learned how to add affiliate links and struggled through the process of placing ads.

With this blog, I want to go into my second year with a plan and concrete goals. Let’s dive right into what I plan to accomplish during my 2nd year blogging.

Content Creation

My strategy for 2022 is to slightly slow down on content creation. The reason for this is to create better quality content. I would also like to take time to look back at old posts and improve them. For 2021 I am going to end the year at 84 posts. This is a substantial start for my website. Churning out content is no longer the top priority. Making that content great, getting traffic, and monetizing are taking priority for this year.

Update: I finished 2021 with 78 published posts, not the 84 I had originally planned for. My year ended a bit roughly with The Significant Reason I Took a Short Break from Blogging.

My goal for posts in 2022 is only 52 total. I believe this slowdown is necessary to move my blog forward.

I need to put some time into other tasks.

Along with creating content, I want to create PDFs to put into my content. These are free PDFs that are given with a subscription to my email list.

The idea here is to get started on creating an email list to use later.

In Q2 I make note of wanting to have content prepared for Q3. The reason for this is our family is expanding around that time. With this comes a drastic change in my time available for work.

Promotion

Social media is not my thing. I realize I should get started on it, but want to continue putting my efforts into Pinterest. A huge part of this moving forward is using pictures I have taken, rather than stock photos. I am hoping to see a drastic up-spike in my Pinterest traffic.

The next strategy for promotion is working on placing free PDFs in articles to get email subscribers. I will then email my list on a regular schedule and include links to new and popular articles.

The final way to work on getting my content in front of viewers is with improvements to SEO. I need to go back and take a look at how I can improve old content.

I do not feel that I am ready for more social media at this point, but time will tell.

Traffic

My traffic goals are I think reasonable, but also something to strive for. My main plan for traffic is via Pinterest. Another way to get more traffic is to go back and better optimize old posts.

I gave myself general goals. Like for Q2 to have a 2,000 pageview month and a 70K Pinterest impression month. Those goals can occur on any of the three months in the quarter.

The truth is I need more traffic to make an income with this blog. I have seen growth over my first year, but need to continue to see more.

Products

It is time to level up beyond affiliate links and ads. I need to take my website from a blog to a business. The way to do so is with a product or service. The intimidating part of this is figuring out how to receive payments properly, making sure myself and my site are protected, and delivering good products or services to the customer.  This venture will be scary, but I want to push myself.

After I give a product or service some time I want to determine whether it was successful, a failure, or how it could be improved.

My goal is to help people and offer them value.

The small product I would like to create is a Preparing for Baby Bundle. We will see if I come up with anything different, but right now that is what I am thinking about.

Income

I am ready to make an income with my blog. The hours I have put into building this blog and providing information is worthy of making a small income.

My goal is not crazy. $1000 for the year is not greedy by any means. However, in my first year blogging, 2021 I made very little. Like under $20 little. You can check out my First Year Income Report for my mommy blog.

You can’t go from $20 to $20,000. Making $1,000 for the year is just the beginning. It is how I see progress and get the ball rolling.

Like I said previously, I am ready to make this a business of helping people. Not just a hobby where I write down information.

The only way I can currently make money with this blog is via my Bluehost affiliate link. I’m talking about https://www.bloggingwithamanda.com .This is where a reader clicks the link and decides to start their own blog with Bluehost. I will make a small commission for recommending them to Bluehost. It costs you nothing extra to use the link and is a way to support my content.

Conclusion

I am looking forward to 2022. I am ready to tackle my second year blogging. This year I am going to be organized and go in with a plan and most importantly reasonable goals.

What are your goals for your blog? Are you in year 1, 2, 3, or beyond?

Let’s get organized and get ready to embrace the New Year.
