In December I was trying to get my feet back under me from November. In November I took a break and had serious family matters to attend to.
I just couldn’t quite get back into blogging. I tried and by the end of the month was feeling it, but the beginning started out too slow.
December is a difficult month with holiday planning and celebrations. I also had a week where my daughter had to go to work with me when her daycare was closed.
December was a struggle and I only got 3 posts published. November and December are the only months in the entire first year that I have missed upload dates.
I have decreased the frequency of my schedule going into next year. I am getting back on track and ready to take on the New Year.
I plan is to publish new content every Wednesday.
Users & Pageviews
Once again I saw my users grow. This is what we want to see each month.
My pageviews grew from November, but October still has November and December beat.
Another interesting thing regarding pageviews is the article that was viewed most. For many months my most popular article has been Daily Schedule for a 10 Month Old. This month the new break-out leader was Gently Encourage Your 18 Month Old to Tackle These Milestones.
This was so exciting. I have been seeing crazy pageviews from the Daily Schedule for a 10 Month Old. This has been exciting, but also concerning. I’ve been afraid to touch that article out of fear of messing it up. I have also been concerned that all my eggs, aka traffic, are in one basket.
The 18 Month Milestones taking over as this month’s leader encourages me that I am getting better in either my writing or promotion on content.
This may also help me determine patterns as to which posts perform well. You need more information to find trends.
I saw a decent dip in both pageviews and users right around Christmas. This is perfectly fine. I think it is great people were spending time with loved ones rather than surfing my content.
I don’t have anything exciting to say about Pinterest. My numbers seem to be a bit down. I just can’t seem to get my account beyond this plateau.
A pinning strategy change may be necessary in the New Year. We will have to see.
Income
I made money this month! In December I made $4.41 from Amazon affiliates. This is super exciting of course!
The last time I made money on Amazon was in April. Seeing affiliate income again is so exciting!
Update: I didn’t realize it when I first published this income report, but I had Ezoic Ads on my site which earned me $4.32.
This brings my total income to $8.73. This is by far my best month thus far.
Expenses
I did have expenses this month. Before my domain and security expire in January I had to renew them. This is just part of blogging. I would love to see my income at least balance out my expenses.
If you have a desire to track your own blogging numbers click the form to become a subscriber and you will get a free PDF with templates you can use yourself. I have provided a couple of options as well as an example filled out for you.
Goals
My December goals were to just try to keep on my publishing schedule and get caught up from November. I wasn’t completely successful, but I did make progress. I think I now have myself to the point of being back on track for January.
I am thankful to be back on track going into the New Year.
My goals for January include:
Publish January content on time
Publish pins on time
Publish content through February
Get ads on the site again
My major goal is to publish content for both January and February. The reason for this is I want to spend time on other tasks. If I can bust out content then next month I can focus on other tasks. I specifically want to focus on tasks that either build my business or help me earn money. This could be spending time adding links, figuring out ads, or working on email opt-ins.
In 2022 I want to move my blogging into a money-making business. I can’t spend all my time on content and Pinterest.
On a personal note, I am also expecting a baby in June. So for the next few months getting ahead on content is the goal!
Strategy/Changes
I did not make any huge changes to my blog in December other than slowing down on content. I barely managed to keep up on my blog this month so strategy was not much of a focus.

Feelings
I don’t feel great about December as far as content production. I am overall happy with the numbers though. I am ready to take on the New Year with my blog.
The most exciting part of this month was making $4.41 on Amazon.
Conclusion
I feel like I survived December. I most definitely did thrive, but I am still chugging along. I was disappointed that I didn’t meet my content goals. But what’s crazy is I made affiliate income. The old work you do can help you through the difficult months.
With blogging, you don’t get back exactly what you put in. You don’t work 2 hours and get paid for two hours.
I am looking forward to the New Year and starting fresh. I absolutely love a new planner and mapping out the year.
See you in 2022!
